How we check listings

Directories in this field tend to list everything and verify nothing. We would rather list less and say exactly what we know.

What a checked mark means

A listing gets a green "Checked" mark, with a date, when we have confirmed all of the following from sources we can point to:

  • The provider exists, at the address or in the service area shown, and was operating on the date checked.
  • It holds the licence its category requires: a state psilocybin service center or healing center licence in Oregon or Colorado; a medical practice with a prescribing clinician for ketamine; a telehealth operation with licensed prescribers for at-home programs.
  • The cost, insurance, formats and conditions we show match what the provider publishes or what a reputable third party has reported. Where we rely on reports rather than the provider's own site, the listing says "reported".

The date matters. A provider checked a year ago may have changed prices, moved, or closed; one of the best-known Oregon service centers closed in mid-2026 while several directories still listed it. We re-check listings on a rolling basis and show the most recent date.

What it does not mean

A checked mark is not a recommendation, a quality rating or a safety guarantee. We do not audit clinical outcomes, sit in on sessions, or verify individual staff credentials. We do not use star ratings or reviews, because in this field they are easy to game and hard to interpret.

Why some listings are unchecked

Unchecked listings are shown with an amber mark. They are there because the operator is well known in its category and leaving it out would make the directory less useful. The details on an unchecked listing are the provider's own claims. Retreats abroad are the category most likely to be unchecked, because licensing abroad is hard to verify from here.

What we will not list

  • Anyone offering psilocybin, MDMA or other controlled substances outside a legal framework, including "underground" facilitators and unlicensed retreats in countries where the substance is illegal.
  • Providers who guarantee outcomes, skip medical screening, or discourage people from involving their own doctor.
  • Anyone selling substances by mail or in person.

Money

Medicinal Journey is independently owned. Providers can pay for a listing or for inquiries we pass to them; that is how the site is funded. Paid status never affects whether a listing is checked, what it says, or where it appears in results, and a paid listing is labelled as such on its page. If we are paid a referral fee by a telehealth provider or retreat operator, the listing says so.

Corrections and removals

If a listing is wrong, email hello@medicinaljourney.com with what is wrong and, if you can, where we can confirm it. A provider can ask to be removed at any time and we will do it. We also remove listings when we learn a licence has lapsed or a provider has closed.
